Dr. Malcolm R. Currie
Founder
Dr. Malcolm R. Currie is a widely recognized technical leader in industry and government. As an industrialist and business leader, he is the former Chairman and CEO of Hughes Aircraft and Delco Electronics, where he led major developments in defense electronics, satellite communications and automotive electronics. As Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, Dr. Currie initiated and spearheaded many of the systems—stealth aircraft, cruise missiles, turbine-powered M-1 tanks, satellite navigation, night vision—which were central to U.S. success in the Gulf War. He has numerous published papers and patents in microwave electronics, laser systems, space propulsion and management. For his leadership, Dr. Currie has received many national and international honors.
Dr. Currie has been committed to the advancement of electric vehicles for quite some time. He formed the group that designed the solar-powered Sunraycer for GM, followed by the design of the electric power train for the GM Impact and EV1. He is also involved with development of advanced batteries and is beginning development of a unique mini-turbo generator to eliminate range limitations of hybrid electric vehicles.
He is co-inventor of the U.S. Pro Drive™ unitary propulsion system, which will help expand the traditional bicycle market by making affordable high performance electric bicycles available to everyone for recreation, transportation, and enjoyable exercise. He also co-invented the adaptation of this system into the exclusive Electro-Drive™ propulsion system that powers each of our scooters.Through both thick and thin, as well as years of exhaustive research and development, “Dr. C” has stayed the course, confident that the time would come when the world would open its mind to a paradigm shift. We think that time has come. From the start, his objective was to build alternative products offering cost effective, emissions free transportation.
Throughout these last few years Currie Technologies has been constantly improving what we do and how we do it; testing, refining, and then testing and refining even more. Today Currie Technologies officially introduces its 2007 line of IZIP™ hybrid electric bicycles and scooters which are targeted and designed to appeal to a large variety of consumers and their needs. IZIP™ is the most comprehensive line in the industry, covering the gambit of price points and user needs with a host of unique features and attributes.
